How does a person go to heaven?
I would like to share with you how the Bible answers that question.

1.  Heaven is a free gift that is not deserved and cannot be earned.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV)
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. (NIV)

2.  Man is a sinner and cannot save himself.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (NIV)

3.  God loves you but hates your sin.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (NIV)
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (NIV)

4.  God sent Jesus, His only son- God in human form, to pay for your sins on the cross and to give you eternal life.
1 John 1: 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. (NIV)
John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (NIV)
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, (NIV)

5.  You must repent of your sins and trust in Jesus alone for your salvation (To go to heaven.)
Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (NIV)
John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— (NIV)

6.  God wants to bless your life and help you through hard times.
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (NIV)

To begin a relationship with Christ, you may pray this prayer of commitment to God.

Dear God, I believe Jesus is your Son, that he died   on  the cross for me, and that he is the only one who can take my sins away.   Please forgive me of my sins and come into my life as Lord and Savior.  I trust you to lead my life. Thank You for saving me.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

If you have made this commitment or have any questions, I would love the opportunity to encourage you in your relationship with Christ.  Please call our church offices at 492-4679 or come to church and talk with one of our ministers.  We care for you.
